Remington 541S sights

I bought a 541S new back in the 70's. It did not come with sights (tapped & plugged) but I was scoping it anyway. Now, I would like to take it back to open sights. Does anyone know which sights were intended for it? My gunsmith thinks the same as came on the 700BDL (ramped front). The receiver is also tapped on the side for a Williams type peep but the stock would have to be inletted a little.

541s are drilled and tapped to take the same ramp front and rear as the other Remington rifles (700, 788, 742, 760) of the time. Or you can upgrade a bit and go with Williams ramp front and peep rear.

I never knew. It figures, but I've never inquired. Thanks. I have a small Leupold EFR on mine right now.

Thanks Scorch. After bringing the sights home (700 ramp front/rear)) I can see that it's a good choice. Just looking at the sights they appeared to be too big for the smaller 541. I don't care to inlet the stock for a Williams so I'll just go with these. This little rifle is 100% and I like it more now than when I bought it for $104 back in the 70's. :)
