Presented for the collective wisdom of the group...

I have a Remington 513T Matchmaster. There is a problem--if the safety is engaged and then disengaged when the rifle is in battery, it will not fire. The bolt handle jumps up slightly when the trigger is pulled, with a soft "clok" noise. If the bolt is opened and shut to re-cock it, the rifle will then fire OK.

I've had the bolt completely apart for cleaning and checking, no visibly worn parts. Same with the safety.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Recheck that safety. The safety blocks the trigger and it sounds like the safety is not being fully disengaged so it is allowing the trigger to move enough for the sear to partly disengage, but not enough to release the firing pin.

Make sure the safety is in right and that it engages the two little lugs on the safety lever. Also make sure the receiver insert (that little rectangular block) is not too tight. As shown by the stake marks, it must allow play for the trigger and sear; if you crank down on the screws, the gun will malfunction.
