remington 40x le trigger

I recently picked up a remington police 700P LTR 308 and it was not marked with having the x mark pro trigger (it is a 2011 built gun). I called remington and they told me based on the serial number that this gun has the 40X LE trigger, which from what I can tell, is a good thing (more expensive unit).

However, I want to know if the 40X has the same design as the older 700 trigger. I have experienced the "remington moment" and had a gun go off when I took the safety off (and no, I was not touching the trigger and I had not fooled with it either :)). I have swore off remington, but because the x mark trigger was an updated design that eliminated the problem, I was willing to go this route on the rifle. Anyway, I want to know if the 40X has the same "connector" and associated issues as the old remington triggers. I tried calling remington, but the two different people I talked to were less than helpful.

I've owned and shot 2 XCR Compact Tacticals. Both came with their 40x trigger. It's a great trigger. Enjoy it and don't worry. No problems with either gun.

I have a 40X down in the shop that I am working on, so I looked at that one (yours may or may not be different). The trigger looks similar to the Rem 700 trigger but different (weight of pull adjustment in front of the trigger, sear lifts when the safety is applied, trigger is different).. I see no problem with the trigger, use it and enjoy it, practice good gun safety, and you will likely never have a problem.
