Remington 300 RUM Bolt Jamming

I just bought the Remington 300 Ultra MAG Model 700 BDL SS. I was able to get it sighted in just over one box of shells. However, while shooting about 22 shells, I had the bolt jam about 3 times occasionally. It occurs after I shoot and try to eject the empty shell casing. I was letting the gun cool periodically so as not to alter my sighting the gun in, but can't help but wonder if the heated barrel or cartidge was causing the jam. I can open the chamber by lifting up on the bolt, but I could not pull the bolt back to eject the casing. I finally pull really hard on the bolt, and then it would slide to the rear of the gun and eject the shell. I was kind of thinking it did this, if I shot and left the bolt closed while someone went up and checked the target.. maybe 30 seconds after shooting. Thinking maybe the shell is getting hot and expanding???? Any ideas??? Thanks in advance.

What kind of ammo were you using. Had the same thing happen with my VS when I was "breaking it in". Used some KAVIM 7.62 mil-surp: first round fired: keyholed and couldn't get the case out without using a piece of plywood to knock the bolt back. Same thing happened with the next round. Switched to some hunting rounds I had in my bag...no problems!

I subsequently "donated" the remaining rounds to the range officer.

Something else to think about. Remington has been having some QC issues lately with the new RUM rifles and some of the 300WMs. Crooked and rough chambers to be exact. If you try different ammo and the problem persists then I would say call Remington and see where their closest repair facility is to you and have it checked. But you should always try the cheapest and easiest fix first which would be the ammo.

And before I get attacked for being anti Remington let me say they are the only rifles I buy and the only actions I build off of. But everyone can have problems.

I was using Remington 300 UM 180 GR Swift Scirocc, right off the shelf of the gun store I bought the gun from.
