Remington 30-30 Accelerated Ammo (.224 Sabot): Opinions?

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone use the Remington 30-30 Accelerated (.224 bullet in a sabot) ammunition in their Winchester Model 94 lever action rifles?

If yes...

Does the point of impact vary from conventional 30-30 ammunition?

If the point of impact matches a conventional round which bullet weight is it?

Is it safe to load multiple Remington 30-30 Accelerated rounds into the Winchester's tubular magazine?

Thanks for the input.

In the past, tried it. Was not aware that it was still out there.

Yes - shoots lower than the 150/170 loads. Have not tried the 125's..

No!! If it is not a flat or (very) round point, you risk a chain detonation in the magazine tube as the sharp points contact the primer of the round in front. Bad idea.

Well, geez...

how dumb is that? I'd wager that the vast majority of all .30-30 rifles are leverguns with tubular magazines.

Quote from guys who thought this up:

"Hey! Let's design a round of ammunition that you can't safely load into 90% of all rifles chambered for that round!"

"Uh...won't that have trouble selling?"

"Stop being such a worry wart. Nobody likes a Negative Nancy."

I hope you're wrong about it being dangerous to load in a tube mag.

Met a guy at the range using the stuff in an old model 94 (and trying to order more at the store) due to lower recoil for his little (looked ~8ish) sons to shoot.

Battler.

Could well be that there just isn't enough recoil for there to be a hazard; also, these rounds could be loaded with a more rounded nose than--for instance--GI-style stuff.
