Remington 1911 question of value

I discovered my dad has a Remington 1911, No. 1422219 and it seems
to be in mint condition. It has FJA stamped on the left side of the frame
next to the trigger. Remington Rand, Syracuse NY also stamped.

Any idea of the rarity or value of this pistol? I could take a picture if
that would help.

thanks

Mint condition, you say.

$2000+
People are just crazy over what I grew up calling "Army surplus."

Now if it is not really truly mint condition with all orignal parts, markings, and finish, the value will be less. Maybe a lot less. A collector would take one wrong letter on the gun and cut the value in half.

Of all of the inspectors marks, the FJA has to be the best. I would get an appraisal on it at a good, good gunshop that knows the US 1911's. Yours could easily go for much more.
FJA= Col. Frank J Atwood.
Serial Number as you have it- 1944 manufacture.

Thanks guys. It certainly looks like it hasn't been fired very often, the grips show no wear and the barrel bushing/barrel area appears like new. It's not really a blue like I'm used to seeing, more like a dark grey look.

I'll go tomorrow and take a couple of pictures and post here.
