I recently acquired a used 1100 ($150 what a steal). It has a 28" modified barrel without the screw in chokes. I was going to buy another barrel and saw that Remington offers a steel shot barrel that allows 3"steel shot shells but not lead shot shells to be shot from the regular receiver.
Does anyone out there have experience with this?
I am curious as to why the barrel/shotgun can tolerate 3" steel but not the 3" lead. Is the pressure in a 3" lead shell that much higher?
Here's a link to the Remington website with the info on the barrels.
