remington 1100 special field .410 ga

Greetings ocrays, and welcome aboard.

Though 1968 1100s were made in 12, 16 and 20-ga. In 1969 Remington introduced the .410-bore and 28-ga 1100s. First available only as a matched pair ($495) as Field (mahogany) or Skeet (American walnut) versions. The project wasn't very successful and only about 5,000 pairs were sold. I recall seeing a NIB pair in T&S club's pro shop in the mid 70s. Remington offered the guns separately for $200 each.

thanks guys, but this one is the special field model, with the english stock, and the shorter forearm and the 21 inch barrel, i have seen alot of them in 12ga and 20ga, but never in .410ga someone told me that they only made 200 of them but i dont know.

All in the details??

The last one I had, was a 20Ga 1100LT. Sold it for $425.00 an it was in 98%. See no reason that your .410 could not also bring that, if not more. Again, condition is everything and .410's are really not all that popular. Yours could very well be an exception. .... ;)

Welcome.....

I've never seen a Special Field in 410. A rare bird indeed.

Prices on Special Fields are all over the place. Some have been lugged through funky habitat, others are safe queens or range toys.

What's the condition? NIB large SFs around here are in the high hundreds, but this may bring a premium.Pretty wood counts.

Of course,it depends on someone wanting this.

thanks for the welcome, hello to you all from maryland, it is new in the box, i will post pics if it will let me,

The smaller the bore the higher the price. I would think that gun would bring 750+ from someone who wanted one. Probably made mid eighties to mid nineties. 410's are popular plantation guns.

IIRC, Remington switched the Special Field's barrel(s) from a 21" fixed choke to a 23" Rem-choke (tubes) type ca. 1983.

.

I bought a 870 SF in 20ga in the late 80s new for my son, his first gun, and it had the 21" Rem choked barrel, then an 1100 SF in 20 ga in 92 new, for my second son's first gun, it also had the 21" barrel with the Rem chokes. I distictly remember the barrel lengths since I was debating for one for myself or the Citori with the 24" barrels, which the guns had the same overall length. I got the Citori for myself. Since I had my FFL back then they were still in production and current models when I bought them.

Last fall, there was a fella at one of our gun shows, that had a 28Ga. like yours. He was asking $625.00. Sure had his share of lookers but still had it at the end of that first day. ... ;)
