Remington 1100 G3

Remington discontinued the 1100 G3 after a couple of years. From its description, it seems like a nice gun. I would appreciate opinions about this gun from those that have owned or shot it. Thanks.

I have a 1100 G3 and have no issues with it. Looks great and shoots great. I think it may have been dropped due to high price and low demand, but I think it was worth the $850 I paid. I also have a matching 870 Wingmaster with the same laminated Realwood stock. It was not cataloged but was a dealer special and came with the same case as my 1100 G3.

I have been shooting a G3 in 20ga since last Christmas (a gift from my wife) and I must say it has become one of my favorite shotguns. It points and swings with ease and has little felt recoil thanks to the upgraded recoil pad. The extra chokes and hard carrying case are a plus.

If I could find one in 12ga I'd buy it in a heart-beat!

I know where there is two G3 12's for sale. They are in FL. Getting them to the Land of the Lenapes may be somewhat challeging because of the laws their, yes or no? Maybe your new Gov will fix that.
 
They will be close to 20% off the MSRP on the price - they are new and at the Gander Mountain in Palm Beach Gardens. I am sure their phone number in on the GM website.

If you are really interested I can stop by on Sunday afternoon then post the price.

You might want to also consider the 1100 Competition. It is totally set up for clay: over bore, long forcing cones and the piston porting works better with lower pressure and lighter target loads. Also, you can get a 30-inch barrel which is sweet.

The G3 is still on the website but says it is unavailable for 2009. I am not a big fan of the PVD finish on the reciever, but that is just me.

Both clays and hunting, but also use my Citori GTS and my Winchester Model 12 for both. Will post photos of them.

The prices were a little better two weeks ago when I stopped for a flat of shells. I guess they are into the holiday shopping season so the sale is off.

It has been my experience that asking will get you an additional 10-percent off. That will pay for the governor's tax, which in Palm Beach County is 7.5-percent. So, the asking price would be a pretty close guess for "out the door."

They had two guns: 12-gauge with 28-inch barrel and 20-gauge with 26-inch barrel. The asking prices $949 and $999, respectively. They were listing the MSRP's at $1,100.

For a discontinued gun that doesn't seem that great even NIB. I bet they go down after the first of the year.
