Remington 1100, abnormal markings??

I recently inherited a Remington model 1100 12 guage when my father passed. I was doing some research online to see how old it is and everything i can find says there should be letter markings on the left side of the barrel. On the left side of the barrel it says "FULL". On the right side of the barrel, just in front of the reciever, there is an "RE", and what looks like a "P", with a line above and below. about an inch away from that is a "U". The serial number is 133917V According to one site I looked at, the scroll work is pre 1979. Can anyone give me any info as to when it was made?

go to www.remingtonsociety.com Click on manufacture dates. The date code is on the barrel. As long as the barrel is the one that came with the gun this should be pretty accurate. Otherwise you can contact Remington with the SN.

The "V" in the serial number stands for a standard 12-ga gun. IINM, if the "RE" was a date code (I suspect it's a Remington proofmark) it would be for November 1958 (pre 1100) or 1984 (too late for your gun?). The "P U" is Remington's date code for June, 1971.
