All should remember that the best advice a lawyer can give his client is to: KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT. Generally speaking it always best to talk to your attorney before you talk to law enforcement. Of course there may be exceptions but probably most law enforcement officers conducting an investigation are going to presume you are guilty. In addition sometimes they misunderstand what you say, put words in your mouth and misquote you. Therefore it is generally always best to keep your mouth shut, talk to your attorney and let him or her make a statment or be present when you are being questioned. Everyone by now should know how easy it is for words to get twisted. Remember the words of President Calvin Cooledge, "I never regretted anything I never said."
Probably half the people charged and convicted would not have been had they kept their mouth shut. Of course I'm glad they talk because they are criminals plain and simple. But then again there are some good honest folks who are victims of circumstance and get screwed by the system because they try to explain what happened when they should have remained silent.
