I picked up a near-mint 1979 REM 1100LW Skeet in 410 for my grandson the other day.

Is it my imagination (or lack thereof) that it has no safety ?

My Compliments

It is not your imagination. That does not look like a Remington factory installed trigger group.
Got to say that you did buy a "classic" and my compliments at that. The Virginian is correct. Did not really have to come this way or converted. Going to be a bit challenging but you may want to buy a new trigger group. I use to have two trigger groups for my 12Ga. One was a shotgun group and the other had a trigger job when switching over to a to a scoped, rifled slug gun. The trigger groups is very easy to remove and install. Good luck and;

Be Safe !!!

Jeeeeeeez. Suddenly you made me remember recent headlines.:(

When I picked it up, I also grabbed a case of skeet loads.
Went out to Low House Pos'n-7, gun at low position, tapped the doubles switch laying on the ground with my foot, and had a ball.
Really nifty little gun....
