Rem700 Trigger adjustment Problem

After having adjusted the trigger down to ~2-3/4 lbs., and having shot 45 rounds thereafter, the pull has suddenly increased to a guesstimated 4-5 lbs. The adjustment was done by a competent gunsmith and all screws were set in place securely. I'll take it back for another readjustment. Any explanations for this would be most appreciated.

TIA

JSR75 I have a question, did you put locktite or even clear nail polish over the screws after adjusting them? They might have moved which would change your trigger weight. I personally use clear nail polish and it works great. An aftermarket trigger is a great idea if you want to spend the money but I like my trigger that I have adjusted to 2.5lbs.

Rob,

Yeah, all screws were secured with some sort of fingernail polish/loc-tite equivalent.

Much Thanks, Grand pa, for the Timney recommendation. I was actually considering this very trigger and purchasing it from Sinclair Intl. But $40 sounds like a steal.

Much Appreciated

I've adjusted dozens of Rem. 700 triggers. Within the past year, I've adjusted three Rem. triggers that wouldn't hold a pull setting. Problem was a bad trigger return spring, which was binding in the adjustment screw channel. I fixed one of the triggers and it works fine, but am replacing one of the others with a Timney. I use Timneys on my two 700's, with good results. Installation is simple. Even a DemocRAT could be trained to do it, given no time constraints.
