Rem LTR velocitys?

What kind of muzzle velocity can I expect to get with a 20" Rem LTR in .308?

Has anyone chronoed any 165 or 180 grain factory hunting loads? Nosler BTs, Partitons, Trophy bonded, or Barnes X.

What are YOUR actual measured velocitys?

Scott,
I have crono'd my LTR with the Federal Gold Medal Match,
on a warm day apx 70^ the 175s ran 2633 fps 5 shot avg.
Cold day apx 40^ the 168s ran 2560 fps 5 shot avg. I have
not crono'd any hunting rounds yet but I would think the
Federal Game King should be close. If you roll your own
try 43gr of VihtaVuori behind your 165-175. This powder
seems to give good speeds with out the high pressure.

Out of my LTR, I get the following:

Federal Gold Medal Match, 168g BTHP
Warm day (~80deg) - 2542fps, 15 std dev
Cool day (~65deg) - 2516fps, 22 std dev

Hornady Match, 168g BTHP
Warm day - 2619fps, 16 std dev
Cool day - 2595fps, 16 std dev

Can't explain the variation, other than my Chrony is a cheapy unit. Not sure how these things are calibrated either.

each rifle will vary, and the reason is the barrel dimensions.........
Given all conditions are the same.
You can have 30 rifles all made the same day, using the same lot ammo, and most likely they will ALL shoot different vel's..........
Bore diameter, and smoothness, yadda,yadda,on it goes.
