Rem 870 or Stoeger 2000

Hello everyone, this forum looks great and enormous, so hopefully you guys can help me with a decision.

One of these guns is about to get sold. Traded recently to acquire this Stoeger, and the wife thinks four 12 guages is too many??? They both take 3 inchers and have 28 inch barrels. I was going to eventually put some tacticool stuff on the 870, but this Stoeger feels like it will shoot really well, and I may like it better for skeet and birds. What a tough decision! Also, my Stoeger doesn't seem to have a limiter plug in the mag tube, but it only holds 2+1 shells.. what's up with that??? Any help would be great.. thanks

Well keep both if you can and like them. I would not get rid of the 870 and I bet 90% or better will say likewise.

I don't know about your specific Stoeger; but, some shotguns are limited to 2+1. There are models of higher capacity guns that have been purposefully reduced to 2+1 to lighten them and/or comply with game laws.

The Stoeger will hold 4+1. You just have to figure out how to get the plug out. I think the Stoeger is the best of the budget semi's. I sure wouldn't want 4 guns in 12 all with 28" barrels. You'll have to decide which to sell. There are almost zero aftermarket options for the Stoeger, so it will be used as is. More options for the 870. Sell one of the other 2.

Thanks guys...All the manuals and reviews on the Stoeger 200 mention a removal limiter plug that is easily removed. Mine must be an earlier model or something without that... anybody know what I'm talking about.

I'm probably gonna have to shoot this stoeger a few hundred rounds before I make the decision.

LOL about the new wife... I blamed it on her, but really I don't want to keep too many non-purpose guns around when we're short on cash. I meant to sell my boat (stationary 5 years) to recoup some Christmas money, not acquire a new gun through trade... funny how things work out.
