Rem 870/Mossy 500 Stock swap?

How hard is it? I ask because my dad has an OLD 870 that has never malfunctioned i may ask for, and if he says no, I'll buy one of these from a pawn shop, hopefully for under 150. Then I want to spend a little cash on an AR-15 style stock set, and maybe a light up front, for home defense purposes. I'm hoping I can do all this for around 300.00 or so.

Anyway, enough rambling- how hard is it to swap out, say, an old wooden stock for a modern tactical style stock set like pictured?

Here's the one you want- trust me, you'll want the recoil reduction. I use one mounted on a 870 for skeet, and it tames things quite well.

Unscrewing the old stock might be difficult depending on how tight it's on there. Once you get it off, install is pretty simple, the SpecOps comes with the appropriate hex tool for it.

I was thinking it was the blackhawk recoil absorbing stock that had failed in a number of cases:eek: I am not an aftermarket type guy so the thread was a fleeting thought for me... Nothing like a traditional stock for me.. I can do so much more with them than any other style.

I did have one of those SpecOps stocks fail on me, but I bought the shotgun used and I have no idea what kind of round count was on it. The action on the shotgun itself was very smooth, so I figure it was used quite a bit. I've since put a few hundred rounds through the new one without a problem; Blackhawk says they're good for 10K rounds or somesuch- yes, a traditional stock will last forever (I'd keep the old one around just in case), but I find the SpecOps makes shooting it much more comfortable.

I have a knoxx stock and I'm really not happy with it.It's kinda bouncy.Booom boing.Nice sound effects huh.More like text effects haha.Mossberg has one with a ar stock already and pretty cheap too.
