Rem 870, Express vs Wingmaster?

What's the big difference between the Remington 870 Express models and the Wingmasters?

Is it more then the better outside finish on the Wm, or are they different inside as well?

I remember seeing a 870 with very rough finish, some kind of flaky coating reminding of very rough parkerizing but that might have been something entirely different. Is that the standard finish on the Express models?
 
Basically the same gun, the Express is not polished before bluing, giving a matte finish that is low shine and retains lube very well.

Usually the wood on an WM is higher grade, but the metalwork is all the same. It might take a few hundred more rounds to break the Express in so that it pumps as smoothly, but that's a minor matter.

You can get 870s in Sweden?

Yes, 870's i available in Sweden, just not very common, definetly more expensive, but still cheap compared to a lot of other shotguns. And they are limited to 2 rounds in the mag, and one in chamber if one wants to hunt with them.
 
There's a 3 shot limit for hunting birds here too, Mikke.

As for more expensive, break it down on a cost per use basis, over the next 50 years at least.

All of the parts for the WM and the Express are the EXACT SAME!! A guy I worked with recently was a production supervisor for Remington, and gave me the scoop on it. The only difference is the polishing/blueing and the wood as mentioned already. The express finish paints well and makes for a super durable finish.
 
Didn't get to look at them today, gunshop closed until the 17th. And I needed to get 9mm ammo as well. :rolleyes:

At least I'm in no hurry for a shotgun.

Express sound good enough for me, it will be a working gun, doesn't have to be fancy to be good. :)
