Rem 870 Express for DOVE in 12 or 20 ga?

AESTHETICALLY i like the 20 ga cuz its a shorter, but does it really matter what gauge? lets say within 100 yds, whats the difference in the spread...is it that big a difference? what should i buy...a 12 or a 20? please advise, thanks.

the only differences between gauges are the availabilty of different ammo and the payload they hold. the velocity is about the same, and the pattern is completely dependent on the choke.

you will not be killing anything with a 100 yard shot with dove loads.

Think 40 yards max and less. thats typical of any shotgun load aside from slugs.
