I'm looking for info; fedback positive or negative on Remington Mod 700 XCR Tactical long range rifle, 308 cal. Got my sights set on one and I thought I would check here before moving forward.

boxotruth has a minimal review of it. conclusion was that it has impressive.
Accuracy .5"-.75" at 100 with 10x scope. No mention of the trigger feel. 14 inch lop.

I have the "compact" version, in .308. Just put a 3.5 x 10 x 40 Leupold Mk4 on it. Took it out to 300 and put 3 rounds into 1.25", twice. Back to back. That is the furthest I have shot groups. At 100 yds it will put all shots into 1 hole. The trigger is great. It is Remington's 40x. Totally adjustable. Breaks nice and crisp. Mine came from the factory at 2.5 lbs. That's how I like it and left it alone.

Can't really say there is anything I don't like. Only thing I changed was, added a Tacops cheek pad. While I still long for a GAP or something similar, can't say I would shoot it any better.

compact

I've researched and yearned for a compact model since they first came out, but at 4 figures plus, have not committed.

The 40x trigger is the best thing going for it. Otherwise you're paying $1200 for a $550 SPS varmint rifle, $250 B&C Medalist light tactical stock, and $110 Timney 510 trigger.

If you really like that stock(and don't plan on changing it) and you really want a fluted barrel, it's actually a fairly good deal. Otherwise buy the components separately and make your own rifle. Then you'll have a couple hundred extra bucks left for a base and rings.

For that kind of money I'd want a faster barrel that could reliably handle heavier bullets out to a thousand yards. It is a "Tactical Long Range" after all.
