Rem 700 Rings and bases

Is there much difference in the accuracy of the rifle if the scope on a 30-06 is mounted with a single versus a two piece base?

No difference. Another vote for Talley lightweights on a hunting rifle. Another good choice are the DNZ mounts. Talley's are 2 piece, and I think look better. The DNZ's are 1 piece and I think might must be a bit stronger. Not because they are 1 piece, but they have more metal around the scope. In fact I've used them and cut the rail off in the middle to make loading/unloading easier with no rail over the ejection port.

Only 2 types of mounts I'll use anymore. If money is a concern anything with a slot that uses "Weaver" style rings works just fine too. I just don't think they look as good. I wouldn't touch anything with dovetails.

Some one-piece bases only use three screws, while the two-piece use four

I also don't like bases that go across the reciever opening

But as already said, there are no accuracy differences when set up correctly

I've done both and I HATE the one piece base. Makes access to the top of the mag a hassle for my fat fingers, and keeps me from using my scope for a handle on those long humps out hunting. -- yeah, I'll admit it; I use my scope for a carry handle. No it hasn't caused any problems. jd

The advantages of one piece bases (other than eliminating potential issues with ring alignment) is much more flexibility in scope positioning, and the ability to extend the range of the optic with down-angle bases.

I don't use anything but down-angle one piece bases anymore.
