Rem 700 Receiver

What is the best way to buy a Rem 700 receiver? No bolt, No rifle, No anything, just the receiver? (Short Action)

Classifieds on rifle-centric forums. In the end, you'll probably just have to buy a cheap SPS or whatever. I don't often see bolt-less actions for sale. Or this: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=32498/Product/700_SHORT_ACTION_RECEIVER. You could sell the trigger and bolt if you don't need them.

Holy crap. $450 for just the receiver and bolt? My SPS Tacitcal was only $100 more than that, and I've seen SPS Varmint for not much more than $450!

They would have sold out of their 500 in a hurry if it was actually a great deal. Their dealer price is $360, which is more attractive.

Cheapest is to buy whole rifle at pawnshop or the likes.

Anytime someone has just an action, they want a testicle for it.

Look for a good action, who cares about the stock or barrel if you're doing a build.
You can find some screaming deals on rusty or bent barrelled, broken stock guns.
As long as the action is good you can usually talk them way down, "this thing is gonna take alot of work, just seems a little high for a non working gun"

buy the cheapest 700 out there (SPS line) with the bolt face you want. Strip it down sell the stock barrel and use the money towards a build.
