Rem 700 PSP = VS??

Greetings,

Can someone explain:
1) why Remington designated the 700 PSP as "LEO"?
2) can civilians purchase this rifle legally?
3) is the Varmint Special (.308) equivalent?
4) what is a worthwhile competitor in that price range?

are you talking about rem 700 pss. I purchased that (in .308) a month ago ($629.99 from kyimports www.kyimports.com). There is a good article in www.snipercountry.com taliking about the difference between rem 700 pss and 700 vs. Basically, they are identicle but the stock. pss has wider forend and 2 qds attached (one for sling, the other one for bipod). I am not a LE. I assume civilians can purchase that without any problem.
