Rem 700 - McMillan vs HS Precision for stocks

I have been checking out the tactical stocks from HS Precision and they are bit pricey. I do like the idea of the aluminum bedding block. I would also like to have the adjustible cheek piece.

Then I ran into McMillan and they are a bit cheaper, but they look like just as quality. The only thing is there does not appear to be aluminum bedding. McMillan claims that in reality their stocks really don't need much bedding and it is up to the owner. I was looking at the A-2 or if that doesn't have the adjustable cheek weld, then I would go with the A-3.

What do yall think? Am I probably not going to go wrong either way? Thanks again. And lets all give it up the The Firing Line for being such a great place to hang out and help each other out! :)

Price wise, they're about the same

Which McMillan were you looking at? The A2's are averaging 400 - 450 and the A3 and A4's are going at $550 - 600. These are complete stocks with decelerator pads and sling studs installed.

The HS Precision SWS system is on sale at Sniper Country PX for $355 for the adj LOP system. The aluminum bedding block is what sells this system.

The McMillans have the bragging rights for the USMC M40A3 rifle and the HS Precision takes the Army's SWS (M-24) rifle. Either way you can't go wrong. You will want to bed the McMillan and use the Badger oversized lug and Titanium devcon for the bedding material. Tapping the stock for pillar bedding wouldn't hurt either. Another route you could go is get the McMillan stock and then get the Badger steel trigger guard so you will have a very solid anchor for your bedding screws.

You'll be very happy with either system.

Good shooting

Wow!

The sniper PX had the HS Precision stock that I have been looking at for $405! I think the next lowest price I have seen was around $499! Thanks a millon Ken. I think I might contact HS Precision as I hear they will sell factory direct as well.
