Rem 700 7mm Rem Mag stuck bolt

I have a 700 7mag that after the 1st shot outa the box, the bolt would rotate upwards but no luck pulling back to eject the spent shell. I had to use a rag and gentle taps with a hammer to release the bolt. Was using hornady superformance 139 gr GMX. Was told to think twice about using those higher velocity rounds so switched to reguler remy core lokts ending up with the same results. any advice or remedies would be appreciated.

Two different factory loads produced the same results? If so I would think the rifle has an issue. I'd do a really good cleaning job to make sure no oils or grease are in the chamber area and try firing it again. If you get the same results take the rifle back.

I'd call Remington and get a return authorizaton, and see if they need some samples of the ammo with the rifle.

There's really no other logical acton, since it's a brand new gun and an obvious quality control problem

I'd expect it to be repaired or replaced free of charge

I agree with Snyper and the other commentator's. But would add. There might be a Remington Authorized Warranty Repair Shop located close to your local. I would check Remington's website for that info. Perhaps one is listed.

Out of curiosity did you clean and lube the gun properly before shooting it, or did you literally take it out ofte box, load it, and pull the trigger? If you did clean it what kind of chemicals did you use?

Good question.

A factory new rifle should not have over pressure issues with factory ammunition.

If the bolt rotates, something is amiss in the chamber. Tool marks in the chamber, or factory gunk turning to glue. I'm going with tool marks, but would love to see some close up pics of a spent cartridge.

After more research and talking with some gun experts at work, they all spoke of these exact problems. So now shes in a box back to Remy. FYI, yes I cleaned it very well with Hoppes solvent and oiled her good before firing. And yes, the few cases that were fired did have scratches. Thanks to all who offered help!! Ill let you know what Remy has to say about it!
