Rem. 700 22-250 VS

just bought a remington 700 BDL in 22-250 marks on the barrel are BE and the serial #B6536XXX. what year?
also picked up a remington 700 PSS with the D/Mag in .308 marks on the barrel are KQ and the serial #D6239XXX. what year also?

Catman, the Remington Model 700 BDL was made sometime in January 1984 and the Model 700 PSS was made sometime in May 1996. Hope this helps!

thanks for the infomation, someone had thought on the 22-250 with the BE on the barrel it was Jan. 1936 or 1958 could have believed 1958 but not 1936. 1984?
 
Since the first Remington Model 700 BDL's didn't appear until 1962, the years you refer to wouldn't apply to the 700 BDL.

Burrhead, you make a good point! Something like that, around 1965-1966 is when Remington 'standardized' the .22-250 cartridge from its previous wildcat status.

When exactly was the 22-250 "standardized?" Didn't Remington chamber their 722 in that caliber for several years before the 700 came out? Or am I thinking of the .222?
 
Well, you guys made me look it up. According to the 11th edition Speer reloading manual the 22-250 was standardized in 1965 and he first rifles were made by Browning.
 
Burrhead, that's the same basic information that appears in Cartridges Of The World. Remington adopted the .22-250 Remington caliber beginning in 1965 first in their Model 700 series rifles.

DCR, prior to 1965 what is now known as the .22-250 Remington caliber was considered a wildcat cartridge with names such as .22 Varminter and .22 Wotkyns Original Swift. Also the Remington Model 722 was manufactured from 1948-1962. This would mean the Model 722 was never offered in the .22-250 Remington caliber from the factory. Hope this helps!
