Rem .260 in Savage 10fp?

I'm thinking about getting a Savage 10fp. I've read scores of posts in this and other fora about the rifle. It certainly has a reputation for accuracy in .308, particularly with a drop in SharpShooter trigger.

Q: Does anyone have the gun in Rem .260? Savage Arms' web site says this chambering is available, but I've never read a post about it, nor have I seen one for sale.

Why the .260? Well, there is a good selection of 6.5 match bullets, and I would like to shoot something with less recoil than the .308. Sierra makes a Moly matchking in 107, 120, and 140 and that would give me a nice range of weights. All my shooting is on paper, from 100-300 yards.

Q: Will the short-action 10-fp be able to feed a .260 with long match bullets or should I go to the 110 fp?

I am a .26 or 6.5mm freak.
I own rifes in 6.5 X 55, 6.5-.284, .260 Rem. and 6.5-06. I have often said that I do not understand why with the great selection of long action rifles, anyone would want a short action.
I have 6.5mm rifles in both long an short actions. Take my advice and get the long action for your .260 Rem. (great cartridge by the way). That way you can experiment with seating depths and make maximum use of the case capacity. Many of the advantages of 6.5 bullets come from the fact that they are long and slender for thier weight. Therefore they occupy a lot of room in the case if seated deeply!
My 6.5-.284 on a short action Remington Model 7 is at least 200 FPS slower than my 6.5-06 on a Remington 700 BDL long action even though the case capacity is basically the same on both wildcats. This is because I can not set the bullets out far enough to make use of the .284 case's powder capacity. My gunsmith's son has a 6.5-.284 on a Remington 700 ADL long action. He can shoehorn in enough powder by seating his bullets out father to beat my 6.5-.284 by 250 fps and my 6.5-06 by 50 fps.
food for thought.
