I was looking at A Remington 1100, the barrel, has A pitted spot on the outside of the barrel, I told the salesman about it, he tried to tell me that
there was no danger of the barrel bursting. To me A pit is loss of metal,
if the gun is shot rapidly it's bound to eventually burst.I wanted the gun for trap,in doubles the gun is fired in rapid succession this could have disastrous results, any comments.

In trap doubles you are only firing two shots in a somewhat rapid succession. It would depend on how DEEP the pitting is and ow extensive it is. If it is shallow and just on the surface, it is easily cleaned up, but can be a good negotiating point for you to talk them down on their price. If it makes you that uneasy, walk away - there are plenty of good guns out there for trap doubles, depending on what your budget is......

If it's a good deal buy it and slap a new(used) barrel on. Rem 1100 barrels are cheap and easy to find. Most gun shops will have used ones available for sale.
