Rem 1100 vs Benelli M1 Field

Hello all,
I'm looking for a duck gun that I can beat up and not feel bad about. I've got an option for both at the same price and both have extra tubes. I was wanting to get some opinons on which you thought was the better way to go. Thanks

I told myself that I was not getting on the Benelli Train until I purchased a H&K Benelli M1 Field not long ago. I liked it so much that I traded my 11-87 upland 20 or a Benelli Montefeltro and have since added a Benelli Legacy. Why?...they shoot flawlessly and clean up in minutes. No gas operated crap to get dirty and you don't have to scrounge around for O-rings. The M1 will have a little more recoil but I've never felt it when beading down on a bird. The M1 will be much lighter that the 1100. Plus if you don't like it, look at the resale values online. Go Benelli!

To me the recoil-operated Benelli doesn't do a thing for recoil, whereas (again, to me) the 1100 / 11-87 is damn near recoilless.

Dirty? Run a box of federal gold medal paper match rounds through an 1100 and tell me what you think of recoil and cleanliness. 2 patches worth of break-free on the tube, one run through the bore with a bore-snake and you should be pretty close to good to go.

The thing I -did- like about my SBE was that it could shoot the 'cheap' ammo (what's that?) and stay clean.

So... it depends on you!

That's what I've heard about the benellis but this one has the benelli recoil reducer mercury tube in the stock. I've got a mercury tube in my beretta 686 ringneck and I can tell the difference. I would also prob out a limbsaver grind to fit on either one I get.

The Benelli Comfort Tech system - does reduce recoil in my opinion. I have 2 Benelli's - both the Super Sport - and one is a 12ga and one a 20ga. Even one of my 13 yr old granddaughters can shoot the Benelli 20ga without beating her up / she has almost no upper body strength / and is really wiry at 5'9" and 100 lbs.

I have 1100's and 11-87's - and they're soft shooting guns / but the Benelli's are about the same. The Benelli is way cleaner shooting than any of my gas guns. The Benelli's are also easier to maintain / trigger group pops out very easily / top of receiver pops off - so getting at trigger group in the field is real easy as well. Easy 10 min to completely strip a Benelli / trigger, bolt, etc - clean it - put it back into battery and keep going ...

I'm not saying the gas guns are bad guns / I just prefer the Benelli. The other problem I have on gas guns / is some of the gas bleed off gets behind my glasses - and its distracting to me... I've kept the Benelli's as my only 2 semi-autos / passed the 1100's, 11-87's, an auto 5 and a Beretta 390 down to some of the nephews and kids in the family.
