reloading related 3D print stuff

Hi guys, Im completly new to this forum. Im from germany (so pls excuse my missing abillities to explain details) and we have the problem, that many reloading stuff often is not available at local dealers or only at very high prices.

So, many of us try to build themself some clever stuff and gadgets for reloading. By this way, I asked myself if there is a community collecting/sharing 3d related data for printing?

On thingiverse & co I found some interessting things. But there must be more? Is there a special "thingiverse" for reloading/shooting enthusiasts? (printing complete guns not mentioned, this is complete illegal in germany).

At the moment I try to construct a bullet feeder for my dillon 650 and especially look for the bullet feeding die 3d data. The feeding die is not exposed to "hard work" (like seating or crimping) and because of this, I guess it can be possible to give it a try.

Another project of mine is buidling up a ".22lr Sniper Trainer" out of an 1967 singleshot Walther Match Rifle. Actually waiting for a new stock (Airsoft AW338). I will try to construct and print my own pillars. But this only for information so that you can imagine what I mean with "related 3D print stuff".

Don,

Welcome to the forum.

I am unaware of a single source of such items as you describe, but it's going to be a natural offshoot of the growing technology that such things are invented and come to be available. Indeed, I've been looking at investing in a 3D printer for some time and just haven't collected enough information to "pull the trigger" on it yet. But I have three measuring instruments I would like to make with one. I can send the stereo lithography files to a 3D prototyping service, but at $70 a pop, it wouldn't take many iterations of a design to justify owning my own machine. So I keep getting back to that.

I am not currently aware of any site hosting such files for reloading equipment, but it's a good idea. I'll think about it a bit.

Youtube has plenty of do it yourself projects, including for reloading.
Quite a few are for add ons to progressive presses.
You could start there.
There's quite a lot at ammosmith.com for home made stuff, too.
And Welcome to the forums.

Thx to you both for your answer :)

Of course I got all the YT videos, I tried to contact a few of the makers to get status of their projects and how to improve.

As I learned there is not too much yet. Time to collect the things available and get into it :D

All interested 2: keep my idea in mind, maybe we can put it all together if there is any general use in future for a growing community of 3d printed reloading/gun stuff

Don

P.S.: It seems to mee that the "known" directories (like thingiverse) dont like gun/reloading-related data too much. Are there only gun haters doing 3d printing? :D

If you dig deep enough, you'll find gun-related and reloading-related items on Shapeways.
I know of no single repository for files like that.

I don't recall any reloading-related items that I've had 3D printed, but I have designed quite a few gun parts and a few tools.

Everything that I have had printed was in materials that are well out of reach for me to handle at home, due to the cost of the equipment: Printing 'high strength' plastics, brass, bronze, copper, stainless steel, etc.

For example: 3D-printed, laser-sintered stainless steel, followed by multiple heat treatments and a bronze 'infiltration' (casting) process isn't exactly something that I can get set up to handle for less than the cost of my house.

Though it can really suck to pay $12 (+shipping) for a part no bigger than my thumbnail, it's still a one-off that I couldn't get elsewhere and the printing companies get to maintain the equipment and constantly buy the 'latest and greatest', rather than me.

But, of course... Most of the things that I've designed could have been punched out in two hours or less if I had a good mill and a lathe.
