I have been thinking of getting a Winchester model 1895 in cal. 405. I would probably go for the modern made-in-Japan version rather than an old Winchester. I would do some reloading for it. My question is: Can the box magazine of the model 1895 handle the length of bullets that are heavier (and probably longer) than the standard Hornady 300 grain commercial loads? There are not very many choices available, but I see that Woodleigh makes a 400 grain bullet with .411 diameter, and there may be others.
