Anyone out there got any load information for this caliber with this particular powder??

I'm going to be using Sierrea 107 grain Matchkings for this loading with this powder.

I've worked a load up using Varget with 58 grain V -max that shoots .4moa for anyone interested.

If you shoot the 6mm ack imp, try Mike J's web site for this caliber, its great information, [Type in 6mm ackley improved on a search engine]

Thanks for any replies!! 12-34hom

Hey, buddy, I was thinking about asking you for advice last night.

I am having G Stringer (of our very own Smithy forum) build up a custom Mauser. It was my understanding that there was minimal velocity gain from improving the 6mm; that the chief gain was in case life. Has this been your experience? It isn't too late, I suppose, to ask George to order an Improved instead of a standard 6mm barrel. Also, if I shoot regular 6mm Rem in an improved barrel, how much velocity will I lose?

Also, what length barrel does your 6mm Improved wear?

Thanks!

8mm

Expect to gain 100 to 200 fps on certain loadings. Case capacity on 6 mm ack imp is equivlent to 257 weatherby mag.

Case life is better shoulder angle is increased to 40 degrees, powder burning is more efficent, etc..

Velocity loss will be negligent.

Mine wears a 27 inch Shilen ss select match in heavy varmint configuration.

If you go with ackly version, use absolute minimum headspacing when chambering. [also mine has a .273 neck fit, i did not want to have to neck turn my brass].

Have you looked into 243 ackley, great round, and you can get brass made by Norma or Lapua for this chambering.

Hope this helps. Take a look at Mike J's site lots of good info and loads to choose from. 12-34hom

Thanks! I'm getting a 21" bl, so I doubt my velocity gains would be as much as yours. Mine will be a "pseudo-scout"...
