sorry if this is too off topic how would you rate these brands? I need reloadable brass.
Magtech,
Sellier & Bellot,
Geco,
Speer
just trying to learn what is good at the low price end.

Thanks

At "the low price end", anything that is boxer primed, with the exception of "Amerc" is GTG.

Of the 4 you list, I scrap the top 3. Speer is one of my favorites.

Of the generic brass I pick up, for rounds like 9mm and .45ACP, I stick with mainstream stuff... Federal, Speer, RP, PMC, Winchester... and discard all the weird stuff. I've found case capacities can vary between some brass, and brass quality can differ. Rifle rounds I'm even more selective... I don't pick up anyone's range brass, and discard the odd stuff I may have gotten hold of over time after firing.

On pistol brass I'm with you. I'll pick it up off the range and reload it till it gives out. I don't sort head stamps or really care as long as it passes a visual.

On rifle brass I am VERY particular and sort the same lot for consistency. I try to buy Lapua (rare a single piece is out of spec), and on occasion Nosler or Hornady. I mark them all too so I'm sure to get every piece of mine back at matches.

I seldom see once fired Speer. The other 3? They would be one time reloaded and dropped on the ground.
The brass I try to collect as once fired or buy new. Federal & Winchester. (in that order) Remington I give away to those wanting.

Brass is brass.

Brass is brass... in that it's made of brass, but not all brass is the same. That dragon reared it's ugly head when I was loading 9mm many years ago, it's one of the reasons I segregate my brass and cull out the odd stuff. YMMV.

I've used all those you posted in 45 Auto and I haven't had any issues with any of them.I would favor the Speer and like the Magtech the least. S&B is good and Geco is excellent as well.

I like all the major brands , picking up off the ground is not for me . it could be at the end of someone's reloads . If the person next to me is shooting store bought an doesn't reload , I'll ask if they want their brass & friends that don't reload save their brass for me. I the beginning I bought four boxes of 230 FMJ's went on from there. I wet tumble , my brass looks brand new every reload.

I got 1K of Geco and they have been some of the better cases for reloading. The S&B are also one of my preferred cases, especially when I started using S&B primers as the tight primer pocket problems went away. Speer and Blazer are the same stuff with different markings - still one of my preferred headstamps. The Magtech (CBC) and Perfecta are two headstamps that I will load once and use at the indoor range that discourages policing your own brass.

That's my experience as well. I've used the brands listed in the OP and several more, all without incident.

If you are looking at low cost brass, just buy some once fired. I think you will find it all (except AMerc) works well enough for practice ammo.

I would, however, avoid mixing brands for loads near maximum pressure.

Magtech, OK
Sellier & Bellot, OK but sometimes have to chamfer primer pockets.
Geco, never used any
Speer, I've had very good results with Speer brass in my semi-auto handguns..

That's my ratings but I only sort brass by headstamp when I'm working up a load. After I've decided on a good load I'll use mixed brass except for my .44 Mag. hot loads, 308 bolt gun and my Garand where I count reloadings...
