Reliable Mags for Mini 30

What are the most reliable mags still available for the Ruger Mini 30?

I have been looking for these for a friend and I'm coming up short on them. With only coming up with the USA mags, which don't function well.

Any companies out there with good mags?

Thanks,

Thermold made Mini-thirty mags. I use them in my bushmaster and they work great. Never tried their Mini-thirty mags, I assume they may be difficult to find.

John Mason Co. in Texas makes a beautiful mag for both the mini 14 and the mini 30. Closest I've seen to a Ruger factory mag. They even have the composite bottom plate like a factory mag. Of course thanks to the anti-gunners they are only made in 10 rd. capacity.

FYI: "usa" made at least two mini-30 variations.
the "first type" has a flare on the bottom of the mag where the baseplate fits.
The "second type" does not.
The first type looks like a better product.
They stamped their name and logo on some of the first type.
You may want to try both types.

I have 2 of the Mason 10 round mags. One works fairly good, the other not so good. I purchased them from him at a gun show and he said if I was not satisfied he would exchange them. I did save the receipt...so. They do look exactly like the Ruger 5 rd except longer so I don't know why they don't function as well.

I purchased 2 Thermold 30 rd expandables (to 45 rounds) from another guy at a show who didn't really know what they were. Paid $20 a piece. Mason told me they were worth about $75 apiece. I have not seen other Thermolds before or since. The Eagle brand are not genuine Thermolds though I have had some people try to pass them off as such. They're just another plastic mag.

I have one of the USA 20 rd metal mags with the flared bottom and it functions well, but it doesn't go in and latch easily and consistently.

Highpower, i tried 'em all when I had a mini-30. Finally sold the rifle. Reliable mags ? Ain't no such critter.
