Reliability problem

I would say the G19. The 92FS is a ncie gun (had one about 10 years ago), but I'd rather have the G19 due to the polymer frame and ease of maintenance. The tennifer finish on the G19 slide is better than the standard blue finish on the 92 (but the INOX is about the same as the tennifer).

Irfan,

What color shirt am I wearing right now? I'm not meaning to be difficult, but your question is sort of one big, sweeping generality. I suspect that many of us have had a high dollar, great reputation handguns that had reliability problems, while we've had cheapies that functioned flawlessly. I also suspect that there are folks that have shot their pistols side by side with other shooters using the exact same make and model, only to find one has reliability problems and the other doesn't.

Both the Glock and the Beretta are great handguns, but the only way to determine reliability is to shoot a specific gun.

I have owned both pistols in the past and in my experience, both were 100% reliable with many rounds put through each. I think the Glock would be more reliable if dirty or underlubed. Although either ever jammed on me, I think the Beretta is less likely to jam due to the design of the slide. The open top virtually eliminates certain types of malfunctions. The Glock DEFINETELY has the edge in finish wear. My 92 immediatley showed signs of holster wear, my Glock never showed any external wear. Both are fine pistols- I dont know if I can say either is superior...........they both have their advantages. The Glock is lighter and easier to conceal /carry, but the Beretta was head and shoulders above the Glock in accuracy.

I would have to say, IMHO, the Beretta has a slight edge in reliability. Durability, now that's a different story!

P.S.: INOX is just brushed stainless steel. Nothing like tenifer.

I doubt most people have enough money for ammo to shoot them both long enough to get their own answer to this question. They are both superb semiautos and I'd bet my life on either one of them.

Why is the name of your post "reliability problem"? Have you had problems with one of these? I doubt you will have a "problem" with either of these if you do your part. Clean within reason and decent ammo.

Boy, you ask the tough ones...

Between the Beretta 92, the G17/19/26 family, and the SIG P-226/228/229, you're talking about the most reliable 9mm pistols (if not the most reliable production semiautos, period) on the market. You could conceivably grow old and die waiting for either one of the two you named to jam. The Glock is more durable, but unless you plan on using the gun for a wheelchock or a small boat anchor, not to any degree you'd notice in day-to-day usage.

They are really both top of the line pistols. I think a lot has to do with what type you are more comfortable carrying. If I had to pick one, it would probably be the Glock. Any pistol can wear out or break, however. I imagine you will have an easier (and less expensive time) finding Beretta parts than you will with Glock parts. Yes, Glock parts can be easily ordered, but the Beretta being military makes surplus parts an option. That being said, I have been thinking a lot about which 9x19mm I am going to invest in. So far, all my full bore autos are 40S&W or 45ACP. It was a toss up between the Glock and Beretta. I chose the Beretta. I will be losing a couple of rounds on high caps, but I can get more high caps cheaper for the Beretta than I can for the Glock. That was my biggest deciding factor.

I've had no reliability problems with either my G19 or 92FS, so far.

BTW, I've had stoppages with other Glocks (G20, G22, and G31), but never with a Beretta 92- or 96-series pistol. YMMV.

My only experience with Glocks and Berettas is watching other people shoot them in IPSC and IDPA competition. Not enough Beretta-shooters to really judge them, but in my experience, Glocks are no more reliable or durable than any other commonly-used service pistols. It may be that the typical competition Glock has been modified, or is using non-factory ammo, but that is also true of all of the other guns to which I'm comparing them.

Well, some say the Glock, others say the Beretta.

I used to have an opinion on the topic, but I've been beaten into apathy by repeated questions along these lines...

Irfan, you may take your pick!!! I've owned several Glock's and one Beretta 92FS Centurion;
and have not experienced a problem with either
make. If for CCW purposes, I would recommend
the G-19; as it's easily concealable.:):D
