Regarding a March on DC.............

I'm posting this in the 'General Discussion Forum' in hopes that it will get read by more people. If it needs to go to the 'Legal and Political Forum' feel free to move it.

Ok, now that that has been said I'll get down to business. Although I have not posted for a bit I have been reading. What I read is that again, there is talk about marching on DC and other locations.

I have tried for a long time to get the big org.'s to help support a march on DC and across the country. The response I get back from the NRA and GOA is the same. "If we can not get at least 100,000 people to show up we will not do it." I saved the email from GOA but not from the NRA.

The reason they give is that the last couple times this was tried the numbers were to low and the media will use it against us. True enough. I can't argue with it because I know this to be correct.

Until this weekend I too was one of the folks that talk about it, post on the Internet, etc...., but had never done more that write/email my congress critters.

Well that changed when I joined the anti-MMM protest in my local town. The MMM's were about 1,000 and we were about 75-100. Someone asked me how I felt about the low numbers on our side. I told them I felt great! I told them that it did not matter how many of us there were. What counted was that we were there showing our support for those that could not be there. That it felt GOOD that I finally got off my ass and did something. On the drive home my wife and I commented on how good we felt and that we were looking forward to the next time we could do the same thing. It released some of the tension we have been feeling for a long time and was worth every second we spent standing there holding our signs.

So the point of the story is, who cares what others think! If 100 or 100,000 show up at least we showed up. If the NRA, GOA, or any other group do not want to help and/or support us, I do not care any more. Sure it would be better to have them support us and use their resources to promote it but if they do not want to then screw them.

Now I will state up front that I can not afford to travel to DC from the west coast. But that does not matter. Those of us that can go to DC can go there. Those that can't, can do what the MMM's did. Have a local march. If a bunch of soccer moms can do it we sure as hell can!

If you are holding your breath waiting for the NRA or GOA to put something together, don't hold it to long. Give them 30 days if you want to just in case the MMM really got to them. But start getting like minded people pumped up about it while you wait. If they, the NRA or GOA, come around great! It not, then we do it on our own. It may not be easy but nothing worthwhile really is if you think about it.

I'm sure most of you will agree that an election year is the best time to do it. Why do you think the MMM's did it this year? Because it's an election year!

If we do our best and it still does not come together because (fill in the blank), then although I hate to say it, it means that the gun owners in this country really do not care enough to do something. I know that may seem harsh but what else can it be?

The MMM woke up some folks that otherwise might not care one way or another. Lets run with that emotional response before it dies out. You know the moms will!

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
