I just bought 1917 Colt 1911 Governtment Model, not all original, but in reasonably good condition:

I think I want to get it re-blued, and put some nice wood grips, and get a good barrel for it to make it a nice historical but regular shooter. It's ser.# c 888xx and I think there were like 24,000 made. It's never going to be original enough to be a museum piece but I'd really like to see it restored.

nice gun, I'd leave it as is,only 24,000
made. I'd think the value on its original
finish would be worth more.
