Do you know how to disassemble your gun? Have you taken it apart to see if there are signs of rough places or parts rubbing? That ought to be your first move.

Sounds to me you need more than a spring kit. Like shotgun said, you may have burrs on your trigger parts causing too much friction. I had a model 36 and had no problems with the trigger pull.
Good luck,

Since a J frame is normally carried or used for SD, it may not be wise to lighten the springs due to the possibility of a light primer strike. As the others have said, if you feel up to disassembling it you can smooth out problem areas yourself, otherwise have a gunsmith do it.

I would go with the wolff shoters pack: http://www.gunsprings.com/Revolvers/SMITH & WESSON/J FRAME/cID3/mID58/dID263#441

Smiths are pretty easy to take apart, except for replacing the rebound spring. Some can do it without a special tool, but I had to buy the tool (http://www.gunsmithertools.com/smithmaster-trigger-spring-/). If you know a good gunsmith, a trigger job might be the best way to go. A S&W trigger job at my gunsmith is ~$80, including any spring changes.

Whatever rout you take, test it after any adjustment (even a gunsmith's) by shooting 100+ rounds of your carry ammunition. If you do it yourself, use the lightest springs first (8# and 13#), and if you get any misfires increase the power of the rebound spring to 14#, repeat, and then go to #15, repeat, and if still misfireing, go back to the factory 8.5#/15# springs, and take the gun to a gunsmith.

Lots of good videos on you-tube. Good tools are a must.
