Redhawk conversions to .500 Linebaugh or .50 AE?

First off, I am inquiring for a friend, not for me. Secondly, said gent is an jarhead artillery officer, 6'6" and weighs a good 18 stone. He's been covetting a .50AE DE, and I'm trying to convince him that he'd be better off having his Ruger Redhawk converted to .50AE or .500 Linebaugh.
Does anyone have any reccommendations for folks who rebarrel and recylinder a Redhawk for around a grand? Mr. Bowen charges a fair bit more than that, not quite sure w/ Gary Reeder. I did find one website offering conversions for $800, http://www.mgarmsinc.com/gunsm.htm , but I've never heard of their work before.

Admittedly, maybe he'll actually pick up one of those lead ignots that DE builds and think it feels keen, but for the same price I'd rather have a big-bore sixgun. I suppose the helpful thing to do would be to point out the impracticality of owning a novelty piece like that. However, if he buys it I'll probably get the chance to shoot it, so I won't stand between a man with disposable income and his fancies...

let him do it. i got a 44 DE a long while ago and it was a jammamatic with the recommended loads, along with everything else.
i hold no grudge,as it could have been a stinker. the thing was heavenly in the recoil and ease of use department.i feel it was very ergo even though i have small hands.
i myself would prefer a revolver, but you gotta let these things come full circle. i was feeling my way,and have given the semi-auto plenty of chances to win my heart. in the end it is the revolver for me.
