Redhawk 44 Mag!

I am a proud brand new owner of a 7.5 Redhawk in 44mag with a BLUED finish. The gun has a beautiful almost new finish. Early 90's model.

I wanted to look into some grips. I was thinking of Hogue's (although ive held the monogrip and didnt care for it) or Pachmeyrs Decelerator grips, though these seem kind of small for the size of the gun.

Anyone have experience with these grips or some Hogue's that have a similiar grip/build/style?

Do you have any other suggestions?

Grips cannot be talked into fitting ones hands.
I went through a half dozen sets of grips before settling on Pachymar Presentations. I used them happily for many years. Grips have to be tried to find what fits your hands and needs the best. For me it was an expensive trial process.

Over the years I've tried all the after market grips. My favorites are the factory wood, and the Uncle Mike's/Butler Creeks. Numrichs has them for a decent price. Here is the link....

Cool man thanks.

How about some reviews on some other grips guys? Are there any out there that make shooting 44 mag less painful?

I had the Hogue ones that came with my 4" RH. They looked cool, but the open backstrap was punishing.

I also bought some of the Uncle Mike's/Butler Creek grips. Brilliant. Nice tight edges and finish, very comfortable, easier to grip with my medium hands than the Hogues and cheap to buy.

I can't recommend those enough.

The aftermarket one's I have tried don't fit all that well.

The Hougue's I settled on gap on the back of the grip, I put a Tuff grip wrap over them and they work great. It looks like crap but feels much better than the stock wood or the Pachmayr presentation grips.

I love the exposed backstrap and the recoil. I shot the stock grips the ony my birthday and im not sure what to think about some of you folks saying the gun is punishing. Haha recoil shy? Anyway it was a blast! Thanks for letting me know the fitment issues with the Hogues the first response is exactly why I asked the question in first place, dont you trolls have anything better to do.

I dont know why they decided to change the way the grips went on the gun. Screwing two pieces of wood or rubber together seems to be norm.

Do you remeber if they were wood or rubber grips with that issue?

All my 44mags sport Hougue finger grove rubber style grips.
Many years shooting these guns has taught me one thing for sure; wood grips suck after 25 rounds and when wet get slick.

The finger grove style give you more hand contact with the butt of the revolver and helps tame recoil IMHO.
The rubber makes a good grip surface when your hands are sweaty or wet out in the field.

One other things is in a short time if you hunt a lot or shoot a lot those beautiful walnut grips turn very dark to near black in color due to sweat and the oils in your skin.

:) Thanks for putting some more life into this thread with your personal experiences.

This is what I was looking for.

I think ill be purchasing the grips I linked above. I have really become fond of the stock grips I just dont know how my grip on them will hold up under lots of shooting or if my hands get sweaty.

Anyway. love the input and I think darker grips will go perfectly with the blued finish.
