You know I am a S&W fan! Truth is, had S&W not made the M27/M28, that Ruger is what I would buy. Great revolver. I think Ruger should produce a run with 3.5" barrels and a rounded butt for CCW. I would buy two.

Boa2, that is without a doubt, one of the best .357 revolvers ever made. Too bad they don't make them in .357 anymore. If money was no object that would be on my (short to me) list of 100 or so firearms I would own, in addition to the .44 mag version. :)

Thanks to everyone(So far!)for your nice compliments! If I could find a nice Redhawk .357 with a(5.5")barrel, legal to buy here in the(PRK!)I'd soon be in Redhawk .357 "Heaven"!!! .  :D

boa2,

Very nice looking piece. I have to agree with you, 5 1/2" is a great length on Ruger pistols. If you really wanted a 5 1/2" barrel on that gun you could get Bowen Customs to cut it down, I have had two guns done by him so far and it usually runs about $200 to have done. Of course there are the reduction in value issues to contemplate before doing such things, but if you really wanted it in 5 1/2" it can be done and done well. Good luck, it looks great, have a great time with it.

.44mag

in doing some research trying to find parts, i ran across an article somewhere saying the athe .357 redhawks were rare-ish, and so overbuilt, that some reloaders used them to test super heavy .357 loads in them. I don't think that I have ever seen cyl. walls that thick in a gun before. the epitome of ruger toughness...

wish I could remember where I say that though, it was on the net somewhere.

beautiful gun, BTW...

I am regretting getting a super redhawk instead of a redhawk...supers are just plain ugly, I think my Megastar is more appealing..

Redhawk .357s

One of my pards has a .357 Redhawk on the same frame as a ,44 Mag I used to own. He was flinching and trying to poke the barrel in the ground and I asked him to bust a few caps with my .44 Mag. After that he fliched no more.

Sadly, his teen aged Daughter, an only child used it on her suicide. He told me recently he was leaving it to me. If it comes my way I shall put it in the gun safe sadly. Never to shoot, only as a gift from a real friend.

Redhawk in .357 Magnum

A Redhawk in .357 Magnum is one of only 5,000. It's a collector's item.
I saw a Stainless one go for $700 6 years ago.
