Redding seater dies perform crimp ?

Does anyone know if the Redding seater die part #92172 also perform a crimp ?

i am planning on getting a crimp die later, for now need to have both ops for my $28

i asked redding, they didn't say, just mentioned its better as two operations.

You'll get faster and better answers if you tell us what this die is for, rather than expecting us to go look it up.
But generally speaking, bullet seating dies do crimp unless they've been modified or adjusted not to.
If the 92172 is for a 9mm pistol round, it should also do a taper crimp when adusted for it.

You're forgiven and excused.
Or is it excused and then forgiven.
If you're not sure how to use the die, feel free to call back.
Operators are standing by.

Remember: Straight-wall auto cartridges don't get "crimped" in the classic sense.
All you do is straighten out the mouth to the specified diameter (MAX 0.380"
in this case)to pass the Plunk Test.

9MM is not a straight walled case. It has a slight taper.

I've found a moderate taper crimp to be a good thing on the 9MM.:)

Sorry, my eyeball limit stops working below 44-40 indents. [quote}

Know what ya mean.:D I can't "see" the taper either. but if ya look at the specs on the drawings in the reloading manuals, it's there.

That's why Glock uses SAAMI spec chambers in 9MM, but cuts them larger for the true "straight walls."
