I've started using Redding Profile Crimp dies on my hard hitting handguns or super light weights...
I also just started loading for my 454 Casull Ruger Alaskan, ( the only gun I've ever had factory ammo jump crimps on ) I've had the dies for a while, & thought I had a profile crimp die already in the box... I noticed that I do not, when I started loading... a quick look for a 454 Casull profile crimp die shows me why I don't have one... I'm not seeing one available... I do see a taper crimp die for 454 Casull from Redding... what on earth would a taper crimp die be made for 454 for??? I'm not aware of a semi auto 454... perhaps it's mislabeled??? anyway I do see one for 45 Colt... I'd think I could leave the die out a turn or two & the 45 Colt die would work for the Casull ( anything I'm missing??? ) BTW... I do also use the Lee Factory Crimp, but would prefer the Profile crimp on the 454 ( they probably do exactly the same thing, just explain it differently )
