Red Dot w/ Spring loaded front and back sights

I saw a set up like this on a tactical rifle. What's the point, or what does this combination actually do?

Also, what's the difference between green and red lasers? I saw another set up with both on it and just thought it was overkill. OR does it actually make sense to have both?

The back up iron sight is there in case the red dot shorts out (really only likely if it is a cheap knock off or completely submerged), damaged from extreme abuse, or the battery dies.

having two lasers is overkill. We use replaceable filters so that different squad or team leaders can lase different targets with our PEQ IR lasers, and having different color lasers could have a similar purpose for civilians without night vision.

different color lasers could also be useful for signalling.

Oh ok. Thank you. I heard Green lasers work better because you can see them further (Unless looking into grass or grassy areas of course). What do you think?

The only Lasers I use are IR where color is irrellevant and the visable red laser on my PEQ 15 which is mostly used for signalling if at all. We also used to carry green lasers in the turrets of our convoy escorts for escalation of force to convince Iraqis to back away from us, but that was banned because it was considered too aggressive by the new administration.

I think the only practical use for a laser, aside from signaling and CQB they don't have that much use.
