Red dot sight

I have a S&W 45 M&P. I've been thinking of getting a red dot sight or scope for it. I was just wondering what the experts over here think... Is it a waste of money or does it really improve accuracy on a pistol. Do you guys have any recommendations?

No expert here but do have a few installed on pistols, rifles and shotguns. They work great especially for my old eyes. ;)
As far as recommendations, of all the ones I own, I dislike the BSA's the most.

Be Safe !!!!

I don't have one on a pistol but I think they help me get on target faster and with more accuracy. I am talking about an Aimpoint M4 (2 moa) on a Sig 556 rifle. Keeping both eyes open, snap shots at 300 yards on dinner size plate targets is impressive, same with under 25 yard targets.
Be aware that the cheap Famous Maker and NC Chinese crap will be a waste of money down the road. They will not hold their settings and you can not count on them for SD.

I used a cheap tasco on a .22 pistol once. Didn't much care for it on a .22. I have it on a bb-gun now for some reason. I do have a no-name brand on my shotgun and it's great, though.

+1 on the Ultradot ! I just got a Matchdot from ultradotwest.com, great service.

The Matchdot has 4 dot sizes but I think the 4 MOA dot is good for any use so you could save some money and go with the standard Ultradot 30mm.
