Red dot scope mounting help.

I have a Beretta CX 4 40 S&W that I am wanting to mount a Bushnel Trophy red dot/green dot scope on. This scope is mounted via rings. Where on the rail should I mount the scope? The manual says to mount as close to middle as possible but I am not sure if that means middle of gun or middle of the rail mount. Will it make a difference where the scope is placed?

with a red dot its probably just what works best for you(no eye relief to worry about).

some people mount them toward the back and other like them toward the front.

....on AR's anyway.
