Red dot or scope suggestions

I'm a total optics noob.

Looking for an AR-15 optic. Most likely a red dot, and I'd like to keep it under a few hundred. What's your favorite and why? I'm interested in either a red dot or a short range scope for targets under 200 yards.

As you can see, I'm pretty open. Suggestions? Thanks.

the UltraDot is my favorite... they are pretty cheap, come with several assessories and scope rings. They are built well enough to handle even huge recoil from high caliber handguns.

I have both but I prefer the Aimpoint Pro.

You'll spend more on the cheaper red dots over a few years than if you'd just gotten a quality one in the first place.

I agree with some others here and buying an inexpensive optic can be a mistake. Years ago I started off cheap with an Ncstar scope and after fumbling with it decided on a good one instead.

Vortex StrikeFire or SPARC are quality sights

for the money, the Bushnell TRS is hard to beat. The vortex strike fire is also a great sight for the money.
