Red Dot For Super Redhawk

I ordered a new Ruger Super Blackhawk this week. It should be here on Wed. If I got half off Trijicon, I'd put one on it. Since I don't get half off, I ordered an Ultradot Matchdot. For the money it's an excellent dot sight and will (from what I've seen and read) handle the recoil of the 44mag. It also has a lifetime warranty which the company is very good at backing up. The warranty alone is a good reason to buy and the dot is the clearest/roundest dot I've seen on a sight in this price range.

You can contact Ruger about swapping new 1" rings in on a set of 30mm.

Next I would get a 30mm UltraDot, as well as a Scope Coat for it from http://UltraDotwest.com/

I have so far owned 4 Super RedHawks. I have had 30mm UltraDots on all of them. I currently have a 30mm on my 9-1/2" 480. Bagged a Doe and an 11 Point Buck in November filling both of my Missouri Deer Tags with it.

I have a 1" UltraDot, as well as several Burris 2-7 Pistol Scopes on my Contender barrels. You can see much better through a 30mm UltraDot in the woods.

If you use the Ruger 30mm rings . . . the inside distance between them is only 1 7/8", so whatever tube red dot you get . . . The control group will need to be less than 1 7/8" long. The other option is to get set up with some kind of weaver mount unit that fits in your milled in ruger scope mounts. I just put a 30mm red dot on on my SRH. It took some looking to find a red dot tube with the right sized control group . . . but I like the Ruger rings better than the weaver system for strength and durability. I also have a 1" 2x6 scope, and it's easy to switch back and forth between the two, and I didn't have to remove my rear fixed sight, so if anything goes wrong . . . it only takes a couple of seconds to remove the red dot or scope and use the fixed sights,
