Recommended Spare Parts?

In light of the recent turmoil with various gun manufacturers either putting their businesses up for sale, or announcing intentions to get out of the U.S. market, which semi-auto pistol and magazine spare parts is it most advisable to buy and have on hand? Of course, this protects against further government regulation as well. Thanks for your input.

Hello. If you wish to qualify them as spare parts, I'd include extra magazines. I would also keep extractors, a couple of firing pins and firing pin retaining plates. An extra grip screw or two is not bad, either. These don't break, but can get lost or buggered up on occassion. Best.

Interesting thought...

If you stay with a popular gun, then you should have no problems with finding spare parts in the future, whether it was made by the original manufacturer or an aftermarket part... For example, there are plenty of parts available for 1911's and Glocks that would keep those guns running way after a possible ban or stoppage in manufacturing.

But as for specific parts, then a firing pin, a set of springs (recoil, magazine, firing pin, etc.), and an extractor for your gun will cover most common failurers in a high use gun...
