Recommendation for purchasing ammo?

I go to the range 2 - 3 times a week, and I need to find somewhere that sells reliable ammo at a REALLY reasonable price. I've found cheaperthandirt.com and they are about $3.00 per box cheaper than the local gun shops, but I'm wondering if anyone else has cheaper if I buy 500 to 1,000 rounds?

I'm particularly interested in 9mm Luger 115 gr FMJ, .38 Special FMJ (any grain), and .22LR for my Ruger Mark II. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I found targetbarn.com and thought I had it made when they had 500 9mm FMJ for $27.00 delivered, but that was bullets only - which have to be reloaded. Thankfully the guy explained it to me before he shipped it. I may get into reloading later, but right now, I just want to find good quality 9mm and .38 Spl ammo for less than $7.00 a box.

I thank you and my credit card thanks you. :)

You'll have a difficult time finding any good 9mm ammo for much less than $6.00 per box.

Hoosierboy has the top ones. I favor ammoman - great service and good prices. I have also bought from Cole - also good. No experience with the others.

I buy my bulk stuff from CheaperThanDirt myself. The way to get the best deal there is to buy tons at a time. Orders above $200.00 are the same on shipping no matter how much.

There's an outfit called (I think) GFCC in Sacramento California. I thinks its also called "The Old Sacramento Armory." They sell new, reloadable, South African DNL 115g 9mm for around $110/1,000 delivered. I bought a case and split it with a friend. It works reliably in my SW99 and in his CZ75. I prefer shooting this to the steel cased Wolf ammo. I think a few other places sell the South African for about this price.

The web address if GFCC is http://www.gfccarmex.com/

I have purchased their PMP 9mm Luger ammo for $109.95 and the shipping is included in that price. Very good ammunition. The price works out to be $5.49 per box. A real bargain when you consider shipping is included in that price

I strongly recommend www.ammoman.com:
> Their prices are low and including shipping
> They have a wider variety of rounds than any of the others (especially cheaper-than-dirt)
> There are not hidden charges (no handling, credit card, shipping, or processing fees)
> There service is THE BEST I've experienced
> They ship immediately (I always receive my order within two days after it is placed via the Internet)

Clearly superior, and I've used all the major houses.

Halfway through my first case of .40auto and love it. Great prices, free ammo cans and friendly service. Lots of loads available, too. I'll be going back there again...and again...and again :)
