I'm looking for a really BRIGHT flashlight. The size of the flashlight is really of no concern to me as long as I'm able to haul it around without much effort. I am also looking for a bright spotlight to keep in my truck for hunting...preferably a cordless one. I have one now at about 3 million candlepowers that plugs into the ac adapter in my truck and many times find myself wanting to take it down with me but cant..

It has two led bulbs on the side of the main sealed beam. It works plugged into the lighter and cordless. I'm not sure how long it will last uncorded but it does have indicator lights to let you know when its wearing down. HTH

They are great flashlights. Hard to beat for the lumen's per dollar.
If cost is not a big problem then HID lights can do what you are asking and more. Here is one site, but there are others. Just search the Web for HID.

Missed that. As indicated they are the brightest out there. They do have some warm-up time...not instant on. But I think they now have models that come on very fast. They are more like a fluorescent than an ordinary incandescent. There is an initial high voltage to get the gas lit, then they run on low voltage. The military has some expensive HID's that are vehicle mounted that can light up a target for miles.
Also, HID like LED will have a smooth beam. No filament to show shadows or artifacts.

I'm a big fan of Fenix flashlights and second that recommendation. But if you're on a tight budget and don't mind a larger light and have a Costco membership they have a deal on 2 x 360 lumen flashlights. I have never used one but the reviews are good. The problem is that none of these have a long throw.
Check out the Solarforce lights that are in the accessories classifieds here on TFL. There's a fellow by the screen name Jimdo who is great to deal with and has great lights. I got a few of them and just ordered more for holiday gifts.
They are 300 lumen, light, small, shockproof and waterproof for around $30 and they ship fast.

Lots of good lights mentioned, but keep in mind that the OP said spotlight light, or long range throw. Lights that run multiple LED's usually do not have good throw. They have great flood type light and are as advertised for lumen's, but it takes a single LED or bulb parabolic reflector to give good throw.

I got a couple to give as gifts and they will light up my pine trees 100-150ft away. Great for spotting my golden retriever when she won't come in.

That is a bargain..and for 11.99 it won't bother me one bit to order another flashlight.
